

John was born January 6, 1960 in St. Louis, MO to the late Frederick R. and Helen (Oppermann) Zaegel. John was an Eagle Scout, and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Akron. His sales career began in the communications industry with MCI, and progressed to selling energy services with Muirfield Energy since 2010. John was an avid skier and sailor, during his spare time in the winter he taught skiing, and in the summer he taught sailing. John was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton, the Berlin Yacht Club, the Thistle Class Association, The Bogeymen Golf League at Mayfair Golf Course, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, FOE #2223, and Delta Tau Delta fraternity. John was an honorary member of the Greentown Gang. John was a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and a Cleveland Indians fan when they weren't playing the Cardinals, as well as a beleaguered Browns fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick J. Zaegel. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Terri (Kerr) Zaegel; siblings, Robert L. (Betty) Zaegel, Mary Ann (Bradley) Hughes, and Martin J. (Susan) Zaegel; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 241 South Main Street, North Canton. Friends may call from 6-8pm, Thursday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists at Mercy Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic for their exceptional care and caring.
