He was born in Spencer Station, Ohio to the late Clyde and Ada (Linton) Hall Hannahs. He graduated from Quaker City High School in 1946. Joseph retired from Norfolk Southern Railway in 1987 after 36 years of service as a brakeman/conductor. He was a member of the Brewster Historical Society, and the Wilderness Center in Wilmot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Paul Betts; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde, Jr. and Mona Hall; brother-in-law, Carl S.Starr; and son-in-law, Mark Lyon. Survived by his wife of 74 years, Adrienne Starr Hall; daughter, Karen Lyon, of Massillon, OH; sons, Brad G. Hall, and Kim Hall, both of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Tonya (Joe) Chisler, Tara (Todd) Baker, Trevor (Christine) Hall, and Ian Hall; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Paige Moyer, and Everett and Olivia Baker; sister, Mary Pauline Starr; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family funeral is planned. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements under the direction of Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
