Loretta Jean Boettler, 85, of Canton, passed away on January 9, 2019 in Massillon, Ohio. Loretta was born in Grafton, West Virginia on August 21, 1933 to Homer M. Nichols and and Goldie Belch Nichols Fluharty. She was raised in Akron and Greensburg, Ohio, graduating from Greensburg High School (aka Green). She married Louis A. Boettler in 1954 and together they had two children, Mark and Susan. Loretta was a member of The Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church since 1965. She was also a member of the DAR. She was a previous member of the Canton Fine Arts, Canton Ballet, Canton Symphony, Junior Sorosis Garden Club, Lake Cable Women’s Club, Timken Mercy Service League. Loretta volunteered her time at Timkin Mercy Hospital in the Pastoral Care Department, at the Canton Art Institute, and the Aultman Gift Shop.
Loretta leaves her husband of 64 years, Louis A. Boettler and her children; Mark A. (Martha Hickman MD) Boettler MD of Dayton and his daughter Susan Boettler of Canton to cherish her memory. She will also be missed by her grandchildren; Michelle, Nicole and Sarah; sister-in-law, Barbara McPherson of North Canton; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents ; brothers, Robert Lee Nichols (1932) and Donald M. Nichols (1990).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January, 26, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a memorial service at Church of the Lakes United Methodist.
