

Melvin O. Stermer, age 96, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord and his beloved Dorothy on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Aultman Hospital. Born January 4, 1916 in Harrisburg, Ohio to Herman and Savilla Stermer, he was one of seven children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings; wife, Dorothy, who died on their 69th wedding anniversary, and daughter, Judy.
Melvin retired from the Hoover Company. He had been a resident of the Canton Christian Home since September 2011. He was a lifetime member of the Church of the Brethren, first at East Nimishillen and more recently at Mount Pleasant.
Always a kind and gentle man, he is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Hall, and Bill and Sally Eshelman; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the employees of the Canton Christian Home for their wonderful care of our Dad and special thanks to Debbie and Tara.
There is rejoicing in heaven today! Well done good and faithful servant.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren, 4152 Mt. Pleasant Road NW, North Canton, with Rev. Bruce Jacobsen officiating. Interment in East Nimishillen Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8pm Friday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, Canton and from 10-11am Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 408 9th Street Southwest Canton, OH 44707.
