Michael S. Angelo, age 87 of Louisville, died Thursday, March 03, 2011 in the St. Joseph Care Center Memory Unit following an extended illness. He was born November 1, 1923 to the late Pasquale & Josephine Angelo. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines Campaign as a Tech Sgt. He retired from Republic Steel in 1977 and U.S. Steel in 1987. He served as committeeman, trustee, treasurer and president of USW Local 1200; International staff representative for the United Steel Workers of America; Member of VFW, American Legion, S.O.A.R.; former member of the Eagles, Italian Club, Jefferson-Jackson Club, Ex Newsies. He was very active in the Democratic Party, campaigning for many local candidates.
He is survived by wife Katherine (Ridgway) Angelo of the home with whom he would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 13th. Also survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Ronald Karlo of North Canton, Loretta and “Skip” Angus of Canton, Cheryl & Stephen Peroz, Darlene & James Kress of Louisville; Grandchildren, Sean Karlo, Scott & Colleen Karlo, Sam Karlo, Heath & Heather Angus, Aaron & Tammy Angus, Amber Angus, Elisha & Gino Dalpra, Ryan Peroz, Michael Peroz, Jennifer & Brandon Pullen, Lisa Kress and fiancé Jonathon Scudiere, Joe Kress and David Kress; eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Lois, brothers, Phillip, Bennie, Anthony Angelo, sisters, Elizabeth, Diana and Angeline Grossi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 7, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1530-11th Street SE, Canton with Father Thomas Bishop officiating. Friends may call 3-7pm on Sunday, March 6th at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions in Michael’s name to St. Joseph’s Memory Care Unit, 2308 Reno Dr. NE Louisville, Ohio 44641.
