

Michael F. “Mike” Theil, Sr., age 92, of Canton died Monday morning, October 10, 2016 at the Inn at University Village. He was born December 15, 1923 in Hartville, Ohio to the late Michael and Mary (Leitner) Theil.
Mike attended McKinley High School and was a US Army veteran of WWII. He served in the first wave of the Normandy invasion, and received the EAME Theater Service Medal and 5 Bronze stars. He retired from Republic Steel after 44 years of service. Mike was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and VFW Post 3747.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 20, 2016; brother, John Dorr; and sisters, Helen Cline and Mary Scarry. He is survived by his son, Michael F. Theil, Jr.; daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Petrovich, Nancy Theil, and Susan (Mark) Knight; and grandchildren, Aimee Anderson, Joseph Theil, Melissa Petrovich, Logan Beck, and Emily Knight.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2551 55th Street NE, Canton, OH 44721 with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call from 5-7pm on Friday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
