Richard was a Jackson High School graduate and he served 4 years in the Army Reserves. He retired from both Republic Steel as a mason foreman and the Jackson Fire Department as a captain.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Halter; wife of nearly 50 years, Annette Halter; and son, Dennis Halter. He is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Dennis) Woodburn, and Beverly Burelli; children, Denise (Robert) Stoneking, Richard (Stefanie) Halter, Brian Halter, and Brent (Julie) Halter; eight grandchildren, Chelsea Pettis, Shelby, Dalton, Dylan, Conner, Cory, Shiloh, and Devon Halter; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, Ohio 44718, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
Richard will be laid to rest in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, North Canton, Ohio.
