Richard “Butch” Earl Maddox, Sr., 77, of Minerva, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Butch was born on May 13, 1943 in Canton to the late Theodore Maddox and Madge Mitchell. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and served his country honorably until 1967. On July 3, 1965, Butch married his wife of 55 years, Helen Linder. Butch was a driver for Superior Dairy for 20 years and went on to be an Owner/Operator until he retired. He was a movie buff and into all of the newest technology. He especially loved his dog, Pork Chop.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Helen, two daughters, Sabrina (Jim) Tompulis and Shelly (Ron) Rocco, four grandchildren: Cody Tompulis, Anthony Rocco, Jacob and Nathan McClendon; and four siblings: Patty Heckathorn, Bill (Sandy) Maddox, Nancy (Em) Dickey, and Missy Elkins.

Along with his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his son, Richard Maddox, Jr., and his sister, Barbara Kasler.

Butch will privately be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
