

Sherry was born in Canton on November 28, 1955 to the late Jack and Elethear (Roudebush) Geib. She graduated from Hoover High School in 1974, serving as Class Secretary, then earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Family Life and Child Development from the University of Akron in 1978. Sherry married Alan Sampson on September 2, 1978. She was a long-time member of Zion United Church of Christ where she served as Children’s Choir Director for many years. Her lifelong passion was teaching and guiding young children. When she finished college, she worked as a third-grade teacher at James Bowie Elementary School in Baytown, Texas. She worked as the Director at the North Canton YMCA Child Care Center from 1996 to 2008, then worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stark County. She went on to work for Zion UCC as Office Manager until 2020 when she retired. Sherry was an avid gardener, crafter, and baker and loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Alan, her children Jared (Anna Ebbesen) Sampson, Laura (Michael) Dudash, and Brett (Samantha Pyatt) Sampson; her grandchildren Allison Dudash, Jack Sampson, and Veronica Sampson, who were her pride and joy; and her two brothers Randall (Monica) Geib and Jerold (Cathy) Geib.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Elethear Geib, and her two stepmothers Ellajean (Johns) Geib and Norma (Freday) Geib.
Per her wishes, Sherry will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held for her at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 11:00 am. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home the evening before on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and on Tuesday the 2nd from 10:00 - 11:00 am.
