

Theodore “Ted” Martin Scoville, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at home with his family by his side. He will be remembered for the faith and courage that he displayed during his long battle with cancer. He was born in Canton, Ohio August 28, 1943. He was the son of the late Rudolph and Evelyn Scoville. He was a lifelong resident of Canton, Ohio. Ted graduated from McKinley High School where he played varsity baseball and basketball. He was a member of the 1961 Basketball team that went to the State Championship. Ted graduated from Kent State University with a BA in Business Administration. While at Kent State, he met his wife Carol Ann Smith of Cleveland, Ohio. They celebrated 45 years of marriage this past June. Ted was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the U.S. Army as an Officer with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Most of his adult life was spent working in Sales. Together with his brother, he was owner/operator of Friends Coffee Co. for 13 years. He was a member o the North Canton Elks 2029 serving as an officer for many years and as PER in 1985-86. He was also a member of the North Canton Eagles 2223 and served as the auditor.
Ted was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State. His favorite pastime was watching the game with friends or attending a sporting event. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He especially enjoyed listening to the music of Bob Dylan. However, of utmost importance to him was the love and pride that he had for his family. Spending time with them and family vacations was something he always looked forward to. He was blessed to have six grandchildren and was proud of all their achievements. We will forever cherish his memory and the special times that we spent together.
His favorite saying was “Be good, What goes around comes around”. He has completed his circle of life. May he rest in peace.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann (Smith) Scoville; daughter Tiffany M. Jones and husband Dr. Marc F. Jones of Kent, Ohio; son Theodore R. Scoville of Springfield, GA; grandchildren, Ethan, Grant, and Abbey Jones, and Madelyn, Miles and Jack Scoville; brothers, Frederick W. Scoville (Myrna) of North Canton and Marvin Scoville (Diane) of Plantation, FL; brother-in-law, Bill Smith (Pat) Hogansville, GA; sisters-in-law, Jackie Barry (Thomas) Lakewood, OH, Kathleen Smith, Patricia Moore both of Cleveland, OH; special friends, John and Pat Hook of Des Plaines, IL; seven nieces; seven nephews; twenty-seven great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Noman Rafique; Dr. Randall Harris and Dr. Stephen Hirsch and Mercy Medical Hospice and their staffs for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Ted during his illnesses.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Friday at 11:00am in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Following cremation, inurnment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman,
OH. Friends may call Thursday, 5-8pm at the funeral home. And Elks service will be held at 4:45pm on Thursday prior to calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Medical Center Hospice or The American Lung Association.
