

Virgil was born in Canton, Ohio and grew up in the Southwest end. He was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School where he was multi-sport athlete. He attended Mount Union College where he played Baseball and Football. Virgil was an All-Conference and Little All-American center. He was inducted into the Mount Union M Club Hall of Fame in 1992.
After college Virgil was a teacher and coach in North Canton and Berea. Virgil married the love of his life Bonnie on August 8, 1964. In 1968 Virgil moved to North Canton and joined IBM, where he had a long, successful career. After retirement, he enjoyed golf, attending Mount Union Football games and his grandchildren’s activities. He was an avid Hoover Vikings, Browns and Indians fan.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil N. Stroia, Sr. and Mary E. Stroia, and one son, Mark S. Stroia. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Bee Stroia (Briggs), sons and daughters-in-law John and Elaine, Mike and Laura, Matt and Jessica; daughter-in-law Jodi Stroia and grandchildren, Maria, Sydney, Nicholas, Tim, Kyle, Ellie and Aiden.
Virgil was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Congress Lake Club, Hoover Sideliners, and North Canton Elks. He was inducted into the J. Babe Stearn Center Hall of Fame in 2012.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Altercare in Louisville for their compassionate care of Virgil. A memorial reception will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stroia Family Foundation at any Huntington bank.
