Bill was born on April 10, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late William C. and Winifred (Jones) Steinmetz. In 1965, Bill graduated from John Marshall High School and then he went on Case Western Reserve University to obtain his undergraduate degree and then Cleveland State University to obtain his Master’s in Environmental Engineering. While he was attending Case Western Reserve University, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. Later in life, Bill was also a member of Pathway and Kiwanis. Bill was an automotive enthusiast and he enjoyed spending time out in nature and fishing. For 20 years, Bill would go on fishing trips to Canada with his friends, and eventually he and his family started their own beloved annual fishing family tradition. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.
William is survived by his sons, Bryan Steinmetz and Bryce (Alicia) Steinmetz, three grandsons: Matthew, Camden, and Thomas; two brothers, Robert (Barbara) Steinmetz and Douglas (Joan) Steinmetz, and significant other, Cynthia Green.
Along with his parents, William is preceded in death by wife of 50 years, Bonnie Steinmetz.
Calling hours for Bill will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm. Funeral Services will begin on Friday at the funeral home at 12 pm with Reverend Andrew Potsko officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
