Rebecca “Becki” Denning, 73, of Kaufman, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 29, 1952, in Abilene, Texas, to Cornelius Henry Denning and Clemie Belle Rouswell Denning.
Becki lived a life full of heart, grit, and adventure. A free spirit through and through, she was known for her brave, stubborn, and endlessly strong nature. Becki loved deeply and gave freely. Her warmth, humor, and fierce devotion to her family made her a light in the lives of everyone who knew her. She graduated from Richardson High School in 1972 and carried her vibrant energy into every stage of life.
She found joy in the simple things; thrift shopping, fishing, square dancing, crafting, playing her harmonica, sipping a cold Dr Pepper, and listening to Willie Nelson. Her beloved dog, Max, rarely left her side, a constant companion who mirrored her loyalty and love. Above all, Becki’s greatest pride and joy was her family, and to them, she was a source of endless love, laughter, and wisdom.
Becki is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Clemie Denning; and her husband, Chuck Battey.
She is survived by her devoted family: daughter in and son-in-law, Tamara and Tommy Williams; grandchildren, Jonas Rouswell (wife Emily), Noah Gonyea (wife Hannah), Seth Gonyea, Eve Gonyea (boyfriend Jayden), Angel Williams, and Jackson Williams; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Jerry Trimble; nephews, Brandon Persell and Kelly Persell; and her beloved dog, Max.
