Beverly Joann Pendergrass, 89, of Canton, Texas, went home to heaven on September 7, 2026. A cherished and beloved presence to those who knew her, Beverly’s life was marked by steady devotion, quiet grace, and the enduring comfort of family and faith.
Beverly was born on October 25, 1936, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Lester Allen Young and Irene Erma Watworth Young. She grew up in Elgin, Kansas, and graduated from Sedan High School.
On May 29, 1954, Beverly married her one true love, Dudley Pendergrass, in Oklahoma. Their enduring love lasted 72 years, and together they built a home filled with love and laughter—an abiding place where family was treasured and every day carried the warmth of what matters most.
Beverly loved the outdoors and could ride on her zero turn lawn mower all day. She delighted in the beauty of flowers and worked tirelessly in her flower beds, growing a blanket of color in her yard. She also found joy in life’s quieter pleasures—working on quilts, reading a good book, and doing puzzles. Above all, her biggest joy was her family; time together brought her an unmistakable smile. Beverly was Christian by faith, and that faith shone through in the hymns and music she played and sang.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Irene Young; and sisters, Barbara Nolan, Anita Hynds, and Janice Peebles.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dudley Pendergrass; children, Karen Asher, Monica Keil, Danny Pendergrass and wife, Sherry; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; siblings: Dorothy Ross, Charles Young, Loren and Donna Young; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas, on September 12, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas, on September 12, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
Beverly will be laid to rest at Old Bethel Cemetery, Canton, Texas
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Beverly’s memory to Manna and St. Jude's Hospital.
