Billy Dean will be remembered as a quiet gentleman whose steady presence spoke more loudly than words. A devoted family man, he carried himself with a calm dignity and a deep sense of responsibility, offering support in ways that were often understated, yet unmistakable to those who knew him best.
On occasion, he shared stories of life growing up on a farm near Edgewood in the great depression. His older twin brothers, Tim and Hollis Duke, both served overseas during World War II, so he followed in their service by joining the Air Force. After a short stint in Buffalo, New York, he accepted his final post near Okinawa, Japan. Those few years of post-WWII service helped him consider a career upon returning home as an accountant. These formative early years led him to an economical way of living—marked by careful judgment and a respect for what mattered most.
In the rhythms of everyday life, his love showed through in simple, faithful acts: tending to yard work with patience and care, and giving genuine affection to the animals he loved. He stayed close with his large family, including his distant relatives, throughout his life. Those closest to him also knew the depth of his mind—an intelligence that was both remarkable and unassuming—and a self-sacrificing spirit that placed the needs of others before his own.
Billy Dean Duke will be deeply missed and respectfully remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on September 12, 2026, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX.
