Carolyn Lois Bates

Carolyn was born April 3, 1944, to Albert and Christine Kimbrough in Sulphur Springs, Texas. After Carolyn attended Mesquite High School she went on to study Medical Coding at Jackson Community College. She was known for having a green thumb with indoor plants and anything Elvis Presley. She met the father of her children while attending church and school together. She was blessed to mother Carrie Jane Bates-Delaney, Lee Ann Bates-Henson, Buford Bates and Christie Bates-Gonzalez. She worked many years in various fields to provide for her four children. The last 19 years she enjoyed being a loving mother and grandmother to her family. Most of all she loved dancing with her children and being surrounded by her family. Holidays at Mammaw and Pappaw Kimbrough’s were some of the most joyous times of her life and she will be dearly missed.

Carolyn was preceded by her mother and father, Christine and Albert Kimbrough; her eldest daughter, Carrie Jane Bates-Delaney; sister and brother-in-law, Nelda and Bob Young; and many much loved nieces and nephews: Chris Blount, Lynn Young, Carey Young, Kimberly Kimbrough-Prewitt, and Shelly Mallett.

Carolyn is survived by daughter, Lee Ann Bates-Henson and husband Jeff Henson; son, Buford Bates and wife Kathy Bates; and daughter, Christie Bates-Gonzalez and husband Michael Gonzalez; grandchildren: Carrie Ann Henson-Wixon, Buford Lee Dale Bates, Jennifer Bates Flores, Lauren Gonzalez, Melanie Gonzalez and Nathan Gonzalez; and great-grandchildren: Dakota Markgraf, Samuel Markgraf, Evelyn Bates, Bradley Bates, Annabel Bates, Sophia Flores and Myles Davila.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Buford Dale Bates, Jeffrey Henson, Michael Gonzalez, Corey Kimbrough, Cale Kimbrough and Gary Lynn Mallett.

Services will be held at Eubanks Funeral Home located at 27532 State Hwy 64, Canton, TX 75103 on Sunday, April 23 at 2:00 PM with visitation Saturday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
