Charles was a true American who believed in the V.A. and the U.S. Army, of whom both helped him tremendously in his life.
He had many loving cousins, especially his buddy, George Taylor, of Houston, TX, who he talked to almost daily and loved cutting up with.
He was a native of New London, TX where he attended school until third grade when his family relocated to Krotz Springs, LA where he resided until he graduated from Melville High School. Upon graduation, he attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 12 years as a Staff Sargent in the Radar Division. During his enlistment, he served three years in Germany. After serving, Charles received his BA from the University of Houston.
He had his own commercial dump truck service in Louisiana before becoming a commercial truck driver for major trucking companies such as Werner and South East Freight from which he retired. He was active as a young man working on his parent's farm in the hay bailing business, raising cattle and horses. Charles spent much of his teenage years showing and participating in events all over Texas & Louisiana. He loved to hunt, fish and target shoot, although because of health issues, that was limited in later years.
Due to the fact that Charles traveled all over the U.S. with the trucking industry, he no longer wished to travel very far. He then enjoyed spending time with family and friends gathered around a good meal and talking.
Honorary Pallbearers are: George Taylor, Sergio Alaniz, Harold Hankins, Doug Hankins, Donnie Kimble, Ty Walton, Bryce Walton, Shane Walton, Blake Kimble, Steven Payne, Larry Swick and Lonnie Payne who was a special friend and co-driver.
