Charles E. Houser

Charles E. Houser, 97, of Canton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2026. Born July 30, 1929, in Highland Park, Michigan, he was the son of Delbert Henry Houser and Myra Thigpen Houser.

Visitation will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton,Texas on August 30, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Lakeside Baptist Church, Canton, Texas, Dr. Mark Moore officiating.

Charles grew up in Mesquite, Texas, and graduated from Mesquite High School. It was there he met his true love, Peggy Austin. They were married on September 19, 1948, sharing 78 years marked by love, devotion, and enduring partnership. In 1969, they moved to the Canton area, where they built a life defined by love, joy and happiness.

Charles devoted much of his working life to service and steady responsibility as a fireman with the Dallas Fire Department. He served for 24 years and retired in 1978, leaving behind a legacy of dependable commitment and deep camaraderie with his Fire Department brothers.

Faith and community were lasting anchors for Charles and Peggy, who were long-time members of Lakeside Baptist Church. Charles also found contentment in simple, meaningful joys—especially a good day of fishing. A master of woodturning, he practiced the craft for many years, creating beautiful artistic works that he shared with family; those treasured pieces hold priceless value for those who received them. Above all, Charles’s greatest joy was time spent with his family.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Myra Houser; and his brothers, James Houser and Don Houser. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Houser; his sons, Mark Houser and wife, Patty, and David Houser and wife, Julie; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul Houser and wife, Dorothy; his Fire Department brothers; and a host of other family and friends.

Final resting place will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park, 27532 State Hwy 64, Canton, Texas 75103.
