

Services for Charles Eugene Wilhite, 83, of Canton are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Jack Thompson and Bro. Altos Womble officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.
Mr. Wilhite passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, in Canton. He was born October 18, 1933, in Fruitvale to William Charles and Nellie Gunter Wilhite.
Gene was a member of the Midway Church of God. He served two years in the US Navy during the Korean War. When he returned from the Navy, he was a truck driver for Red Ball Freight and Coca Cola for many years. Gene served 21 years with the Canton Police Department and retired as a Sergeant. He enjoyed raising cattle on his Jumping W Ranch.
Mr. Wilhite is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Cheryl Smith.
Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Wilhite of Canton; two daughters and their husbands: Renee and Butch Childress of Canton and Mary and Jack Thompson of Canton; 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Mark Smith of McKinney; sister, Ailene Hough of Grand Saline; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Mark Smith, Cody Childress, Clay Childress, Coy Childress, Chuck Thompson, Brian Butcher, Greg Whaley and Caleb Smith.
Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
