Services for Chester Eugene Simpson, 94, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 1 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Chaplain Kevin Moore officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Simpson passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, in Grand Saline. He was born January 21, 1921 in Canton to Charlie Clinton and Millie Richie Stepp Simpson.
Chester was a Church of Christ by faith. He loved to hunt, fish and play music on his guitar. Chester served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In the New Guinea Campaign he was missing and feared dead. Chester also served in the Philippines and Japan.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wanda Jean Goode Simpson of Grand Saline; two sisters: Ethel Irene Sherwood of Myrtle Springs and Ruby Sturdivant of Kaufman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chester is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Clarence, Ralph and Leonard; and a sister, Elsie.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
