Clara Jo Deggs Forest Jackson passed away on September 21, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on August 9, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas to Harry Ishmael Deggs and Ellie Dunn Deggs.
Beloved child of God, wife, mother and friend to so many, lived for over 90 years. She was married to Robert “Bob” D. Jackson, Sr. over 30 years at his death. Among her many interest and loves, after her love of family were bowling, cooking, sewing and especially quilting. She met her husband when they were bowling. She enjoyed teaching young people to bowl and helped organize a Junior League for teenagers in Richardson, Texas. Cooking was a treat for her family since they were able to appreciate the tasty meals she cooked and shared. Most enjoyable were her wonderful Scotch Shortbread, fine candies and iced tea cake cookies. Those are some of the most treasured memories by her family. When Clara and Bob moved to the Edom area, she joined the Texas Star Quilters’ Guild. Chief among her gifts was the skill she developed as an award winning quilter. She shared her gift of quilting with so many and as often as she could. She encouraged and taught others the love of the art of quilting and passed it on to family and friends. She will be missed and remembered, that even when she was recently living in nursing care she still wanted to show her new friends how to play Yahtzee and card games.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Belinda Jackson and husband, Robert; son, Charles Forest and wife Joy; daughter in-law, Ellen Jackson; stepson, Thom Jackson and wife, Becca; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
