Granddaddy always gave a huge hug coming and going when I saw him! He was always happy to see his grandkids and great grandkids come to visit! He and Mona were always willing for us to come and visit, even bringing the dog!
We are thankful for the godly legacy he and Mona have passed on. We are glad we got to come and visit in the summers. We love you both!

There are so many memories. I remember the excitement of getting a coke out of the “old” machine at the shop, riding the tractor with him, watching him pull out his “mad money” to pay for dinner at Two Señoritas (full order of combination nachos), and watching/helping him work on things around the farm. He was happiest on the farm, in the shop, or worshiping Christ at church. He will be missed but we know we will see each other again.

Grandaddy was such a strong, loving person who could really make me laugh, even when he wasn’t trying to. I recall finishing up a meal at one of his favorite Mexican restaurants and noticing that I had not spilled anything on my mainly-white shirt. Feeling so proud, I pointed it out to everyone at the table as we were leaving. Grandaddy quickly stuck his fingers in a bowl of salsa and then rubbed it all over the front of my shirt. I was so upset, but he thought it was the funniest thing. Looking back, it is one of my favorite stories to tell and laugh about. I loved him dearly and he will be incredibly missed. But I so look forward to the day when I can worship the Lord together with him after eating the best salsa in heaven.

There are so many memories to choose from. But a funny one I remember is a week before my wedding, Granddaddy pulled me aside and said “if you want to elope in Vegas, I’ll pay for your ticket” which just made me laugh and I had to remind him that my parents wouldn’t be too happy about that. But he said “ok..but if you change your mind let me know”
He was always so loving and caring to everyone he met. As a grandchild of his, i feel blessed to have had all the times we did together and I can’t wait to see him again in heaven.

I remember when Grandaddy has his first stroke, me and my dad went to go visit him in the hospital. Grandaddy was almost like a different person, he was so genuine and kind, like he had a whole different perspective on life. He talked about Mona with such love and sweetness to the point where he came to tears talking about how much he missed her. This was the night that me and his relationship changed until his final days. We became much closer and talked a lot more often. He would let me come to the farm with friends and film stuff for my short films and he would do anything to help us at any moment. He was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Rest In Peace Grandaddy. You’ll never be forgotten for the kindness you’ve put out on the people around you. Love you.

Granddaddy was the best grandpa a girl could ask for! I was and am so blessed to have gotten to grow up next door to y’all. He taught me so many things that I couldn’t possibly list them all, all I can say is that I love him and I love you Mona!

The first time I met Elwood, Monty and I were just getting serious, so I wanted to make a good impression. Apparently I did. As we were leaving he said, “I like you. You eat a lot, but I like you!” We had a good laugh over that remark several times over the last 28 years.

I will miss the talks that we would have. I know we will meet again, when I see him again wth Jesus! I know that heavenly choir has got a Great singer now. I appreciated his friendship and kindness in the short time we were friends. He was always someone I looked to for my spiritual questions and guidance. He will be missed but I am so glad to know where he is now. Thank You Jesus!
