Dale Wayne Cleveland

Mr. Cleveland passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, July 30th with family at his side. He was born May 13th, 1939, in Hillsboro, Texas to James "Jack" Thomas Cleveland and Alma Cleveland. Dale was the oldest of 3 children, having 2 younger sisters. He was raised in a close-knit community in Oak Cliff and later moved to Lancaster. He had lifelong friendships with many from his childhood.

Dale met his wife, Jackie Cleveland, in Lancaster and they were married for 56 years until her death in 2016. Dale and Jackie raised their family in Lancaster, they had 2 daughters Rhonda and Stacey. Dale worked for Sears and Roebuck for many years before switching to the freight industry which he retired from in 2000. During Dale's retirement he worked part-time as a School Bus Driver for Canton ISD. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing baseball as a catcher, and in his later years, played church softball, as a pitcher and frequent home run hitter. He was a baseball fan since childhood both a Texas Rangers fan and New York Yankees fan. He attended the 2023 Texas Rangers World Series famous 11 inning game. He also enjoyed raising and training dogs, of which he won a State Championship for Obedience with his German Shepherd, Presca. Dale was Daddy Dale to his 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, his favorite past time was to attend his great grandchildren's sporting events, band and choir performances, and school activities. Dale enjoyed studying the Bible, having read the Bible through multiple times, and taking Bible courses, he had a deep knowledge and understanding for discussing the Bible in any setting. He attended Jackson Baptist Church where he and Jackie were members.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, J T "Jack" Cleveland and Alma Cleveland, his wife of 56 years Jackie Cleveland, and 2 sisters, Jerrine Mueller, and Elaine Garvin.

Dale is survived by daughters Rhonda Roy, Bill, Stacey Cleveland, three Grandchildren, Britne Bundrick, Logan, Rhonda-Beth Bessette, Mike, Dustin Daniel; nine great-grandchildren, Asa Carter, Eli Bundrick, Morgan Carter, Addison Bundrick, Kori Carter, Alexander Daniel, Bentley Carter, Hazel Daniel, and Lane Bessette and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 Monday August 3, 2026, at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
