Raised in Garland, Texas, Dan graduated from Garland High School and went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. A hard-working professional who took deep pride in doing things well, Dan devoted many years to TXDOT. He served as the Head Engineer on the “High Five” project and the “183 Rebuild” project—two undertakings he was especially proud to have been part of, and lasting examples of the steady commitment he brought to his work.
Dan led a full life and found joy in simple pleasures and shared experiences. He enjoyed going to concerts, fishing, skiing, disc golf, and trips to the Rocky mountains. He loved going on camping trips, and as a young man he looked forward to summer and traveling to Vermont to visit his grandparents.
Dan’s life was also marked by a devoted love for family and the enduring ways that his love was shown. He was always there to lend a helping hand and offer support to loved ones. Above all, Dan’s greatest joy was time spent with his children. Together they enjoyed going to the movies, listening to music, especially the oldies, playing disc golf and card games. The perfect night ended with loads of fireworks, lots of laughter and love.
A devoted Catholic, Dan was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton, Texas, and was a faithful servant of the Lord. In the lives he touched, he will be remembered as beloved, steady, and deeply committed—to his faith, his work, and the people he loved.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Richard Peden, and his step father, John Goodin.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie Peden; children, Amanda Danielle Peden and Nathan Richard Peden; mother, Marilyn Goodin; brother and sister in-law, David and Connie Peden; and a host of other family and dear friends.
