

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” That scripture is comforting for the family of David Dean Thompson, 84, of Canton, Texas, who was called home to his heavenly reward on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He was born on May 15, 1941, in Grand Saline, Texas to Homer Thompson and Estelle Bailey Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Eubank Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the funeral home.
David grew up in Grand Saline and graduated from Grand Saline High School. He was a good, hardworking man who dearly loved his family. He had a successful career at Verizon and after retiring, he raised cattle. David was a long-time member of Lakeside Baptist Church. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge #1269 in Grand Saline. He lived his life by the principles of Masonic law: integrity, friendship, respect and service. He supported causes helping others, including “Together Against Drugs” through the Lodge. He served as Past Worshipful Master and Deputy District Grand Master. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and was proud to work with Scottish Rite, helping children.
David enjoyed people. He never met a stranger and was always looking out for his fellow man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Estelle Thompson; brother, Charles Dale Thompson.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Thompson; son, Todd Thompson; sister, Freda Bates; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Wayne Sloan; a multitude of other family and friends.
David will be laid to rest at Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton, Texas.
