Dolores Ann Romatowski passed to eternal life on March 26, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on April 20, 1934 in Valhalla, New York, she was the first of three children of Frances and Joseph Siracusa. Dolores was raised in Yonkers, New York and graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School in 1952. She continued on to nursing school at St. John's Riverside Hospital Cochran School of Nursing, from where she graduated in 1955. She maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates. Dolores worked as a nurse until her first child was born in 1959, then retired to raise an eventual family of four children. In 1975 she returned to nursing, a career she continued until retirement in 1981. During her lifetime she called several cities home, including Yonkers NY, Washington DC, Bowie MD, Princeton NJ, Hampton VA, Albuquerque NM, San Antonio TX and Canton TX.
Dolores was first and foremost a mother, wife and homemaker. Raised with high morals and traditional Christian values, she treasured family above all else. Any occasion for family and friends to assemble brought her great joy. She was an avid gamer - cards, board games, word games, and puzzles. In scrabble she was known as the "mistress of the two-letter word", often coming from behind for the win on the final turn. She loved gardening, flowers, and birds; with an ability to bestow beauty and tranquility upon a formerly mundane and featureless backyard.
Her talent also extended to "the art of shopping". She could sniff out bargains from miles away, somehow able to find the best deals and prices on food, clothing, and items across the board. She loved hamburgers, Bailey's Irish cream holidays, and above all, entertaining. She had a deep affection for her four children, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, all of whom will greatly miss her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and caring, and many memories of family, friendship and togetherness.
Dolores is preceded in death by husband, Raymond Romatowski; mother, Frances Siracusa; father, Joseph Siracusa; brother, Joe Siracusa and grandson, Chad Stein.
She is survived by daughters: Maryrae (Jeff) Stein and Laura (Robert) Scaletti; sons: Michael Romatowski and Robert (Tracy) Romatowski; sister, Arlene (Roger) Simms; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
