Donna Gail Drake

Donna was born on a Friday, November 12, 1954 to William “Lee” Bottoms and Johnie Agnes Mann Bottoms. She was the baby of the family. Donna had 3 older sisters, Diane, Sherry and Barbara. Donna had 2 half-brothers, Hosia and Harvel and 3 half – sisters, Maxine, Pauline and Mary Saline.

She grew up in Dallas, Texas. Donna loved to play dress up with her older sister Barbara and play dolls. She always thought it was so cool to watch Barbara make little dresses and accessories for the dolls. She made many trips to Big Town Mall, where she had most of her fondest memories with her family. Church was every Sunday and her Daddy made sure they all went. She would sing church songs with her daddy sitting at the kitchen table or the sitting out on the back patio.

She moved to Ohio where she married her first husband and had her first son, Larry Eugene Williams Jr. She moved back home to Texas in 1974. In 1977 she met the love on her life, Harvey James Montgomery at a drive in called Owens. He was the manager and she was the car hop. They would later marry, on September 18, 1978. Together they had two children, Harvey “Todd” Montgomery and Jennifer Gayl Montgomery. Harvey had 3 children of his own that became Donna’s step children, Lisa, Lori and James Montgomery. She was married to Harvey until his untimely death on September 25, 1995.

In 1999, she met Marty Drake. They met at a dance club and he swept her off her feet. They would later marry on January 12, 2001. Donna and Marty were married until his untimely death on December 10, 2019.

Donna was such a great story teller and shared them with her family and friends. She loved to dance around the house with the music turned up loud with the windows open. In her past time, she enjoyed a warm blanket and to read her Danielle Steele Books. She loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys play and spent most of her earlier years at the bowling alley. She enjoyed planting flowers and loved to talk about all the different plants. Donna was always enthusiastic to share her knowledge with plants, with anyone who asked. Her favorite time was spending time with her children and grandchildren whether it was going out to eat, or just sitting down and talking. They all made her so very happy. Donna was an amazing Mama, loving Nana and all-around wonderful woman. She is already missed and will forever be loved by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Montgomery and husband, Marty Drake. Her son, Larry Eugene Williams Jr. and step son, James Montgomery. Her sisters, Sherry Palmer and Barbara McGee, half-brothers, Hosia Bottoms and Harvel Bottoms; half sister, Pauline Mann. Her niece, Carol Louise Allen and nephew, Danny Rankin.

Donna is survived by her children Todd Montgomery and Jennifer Martinez and son in law Domingo Martinez. Her grandchildren, Parker Montgomery, Mia Martinez, Tyler Montgomery and Zoe Martinez. Her sister, Diane Ross, brother in-law, John McGee; half-sisters, Maxine Leonard and Mary Saline Green Hogue.

Inurnment will be at Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton, Texas.
