Services for Gerald D. Chamblee, 93, of Canton, are scheduled for 11 am Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup and Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating. Interment will be in High Cemetery.

Gerald D. was born in the Old Bethel Community, Van Zandt County, on December 12, 1925. He passed peacefully through Heaven’s Gate on September 25, 2019, welcomed by a host of family and friends.

Gerald D. was a proud resident of Van Zandt county. His ancestors settled here in 1852. Gerald D. was an outdoorsman who loved to camp, farm, and fish. He loved sharing his family history and photo albums of his loved ones and his travels.

He grew up in the Old Bethel community where he attended school. Gerald D. loved God, family, ranching, and his country. He served in the Army Air Corp. from 1946-1947. He was a successful rancher and entrepreneur. Gerald D. worked hard from sunrise to sunset on his beautiful 7UP Ranch, aka Chamblee Creek Ranch. He raised top grade beef cattle and produced quality coastal hay. Gerald was a proud member of the Eustace Masonic Lodge No. 1199 A. F .& A. M. for 49 years. Gerald was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. Throughout his career, Gerald D. built a reputation of honor, trust, and integrity.

Gerald D. married his beloved Dana Beth on September 20, 1952. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage. Their love for one another was steadfast and and a true testament of devotion.

Gerald D. was preceded in death by his parents, R.F. “Dutch” and Oma Jewel Thormahlen Chamblee; brothers Jamie Cain, Truett, Bobby Joe, and Roland Chamblee; sister, Marium Cain Marshall.

Left to cherish Gerald D’s memory is his adoring wife Dana Beth; daughter, Debra and Tommy Miller; daughter, Donna and Bill Burns; son, James Maverick and Sherry Chamblee; brother, Adrian Chamblee; sister, Katie Stout; sister, Peggy Ann Black. Gerald D leaves six precious grandchildren; Shane Miller, Stacey Johnson, Matt Miller, Cody Wilkerson, Lana Abbott, and Eric Wilkerson. Gerald D’s legacy continues with a whopping 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

The Chamblee family would like to thank the staff of Country Place Senior Living for their loving support and attentiveness to Gerald D.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Van Zandt County Veteran’s Memorial, 1200 S. Trades Day Blvd., Suite 600 Canton, Texas 75103.
