
Memorial services to celebrate the gentle, loving life of Gwendolyn Ramsey Stone, 97, of Chandler, Texas are scheduled for 2 pm Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Concord Baptist Church. Gwen attended church and was a member at Concord Baptist Church near Chandler, Texas on FM 2010.
Gwen passed away in her home with her family around her and went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2015. She was born on October 9, 1917, to James Albert and Ima Sherbert Ramsey in the Moore Community near Canton, Texas. She lived most of her life in Van Zandt County where she met and later married Raymond Marshall Stone on February 13, 1937.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Raymond Marshall Stone; two sisters: Polly Ramsey and Opal Miles; three brothers: T.D., Arnold and Travis Ramsey; one son, Larry Marshall Stone; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Stephenson. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Anna Stephenson; and four sons: Randall Eugene Stone and wife, Nancy; Winford Carl Stone and wife, Sarah: Kenneth Raymond Stone and wife, Diane; and Michael Andrew Stone and wife, Anita. She leaves a legacy of 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, James Albert Ramsey.
Gwen was totally loved, cherished and looked up to as a most wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She was a great role model in each area. She inspired us all to be more positive and forgiving people. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23—The Lord Is My Shepherd.
Gwen was an extremely hard worker. She worked at various jobs starting at age 12 and retired from Eikner Nurseries. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, quilter, loved to crochet and was good at all kinds of arts and crafts. She also loved to go fishing. She mostly enjoyed cooking and waiting on her family and friends who adored her sweet smile and tender strength. She cultivated more than flowers by having a heart full of compassion and love for her family and friends.
