Interment will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.
James passed away September 16, 2018, in Tyler, TX.
He was born in the Whitton Community on January 17, 1927, to Luther Benjamin Plaster and Gladys Effie Emerson Plaster. He was the second oldest of six children. He served our country from 1946-1948 serving in Italy and Germany during the Korean War. After returning home, he married Sadie Ann Weaver on December 10, 1949. To this marriage were born three children, Annette, Gary and Donna. James was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. He worked at American Beauty Flour Mill from 1948-1974 and then retired to cattle ranching. James has nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lloyd, and sister, Bernece (Sally).
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sadie Ann; his three children and spouses, Annette and George Haberer, Gary and Brenda Plaster and Donna and Nolan Dover of Canton; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Estes and Gale Bennett of Canton; brother, Roland and Sandra Plaster of Canton.
James had a great respect for the working man. A great love of his was back porch sitting, drinking coffee, a good game of 42 and his cows. He is a legend with his story telling. He never met a stranger and never turned someone in need away. Gardening was also a favorite hobby and always with George by his side watching the birds feeding on his front porch and watching the squirrels trying to out run his favorite dog, Shorty. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
