Jane Mayer

A graveside service will be held for Jane Shanks Mayer, 82 of Ben Wheeler, Texas on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Holly Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Bro. Derek Rogers officiating.

Jane went home to the Lord on June 10, 2022 in Ben Wheeler, Texas. She was born on October 27, 1939 in Forney, Texas to Asa Shanks and Addie Morton Shanks.

Jane grew up in Forney, Texas and graduated from Forney High School. She married the love of her life, E. A. Mayer on January 30, 1960, the couple had 60 beautiful years together at his passing. Jane worked for Sears as a secretary for 35 years. During that time, she made many lifetime friendships. Jane and E. A. moved to Ben Wheeler in 1978. The couple loved the country life. Jane was a long time member of the Living for the Brand Church in Athens, Texas. She was activity in supplying food for the Canton Trail Riders and for the Buck Out Ministry. Jane enjoyed shopping and working in her garden, but her biggest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jane had a big and caring heart. She loved the Lord, her family and friends.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Addie Shanks; beloved husband, E. A. Mayer; brother, Mike Shanks.

She is survived by her sons, Scott Mayer, Paul and Marty Mayer; grandchildren, Kelsey Mayer, Jason Mayer, Heidi Dickerson, Kassidy Mayer and Asa Mayer; great-grandchildren, Luke Mayer, Avery Mayer, Shaila Mayer, Haven Price, Ayden Bell, Dawson Dickerson, Dillan Mayer; sister, Pat Shelton; brothers, Jerry Shanks, Johnny and Tammy Shanks; sisters-in-law, Betty Asbill and Helen Mayer.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Eubank Funeral Home.
