Mary Jane Hoover Woolverton Norman passed away in Canton, Van Zandt Co., Texas, on 13 September 2023. She was born in Montague, Montague Co., Texas, to Samuel Zebordee Hoover and Ruth Ethel Haynes on 11 September 1923.
She attended school in Montague, Texas and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton, Texas.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Sammy Dee and Ruth Hoover; sisters Baby Ruth Hoover McGee, Winnie Merle Hoover Pollard Erger; Margaret Nell Hoover Hickman Carelock; Vivian Joan Hoover Hamilton Covington; spouses Marvin Benford Woolverton Sr. and Kenneth Ray Norman.
During World War II, Jane worked at Consolidated Aircraft Corporation building bombers in a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth where she met Marvin Woolverton. Jane was one of the famous Rosie the Riveters. Marvin and Jane wed on 13 November 1943 in Norman, Cleveland Co., Oklahoma, and were blessed with three children. The young family were farmers in the Eustace, Texas area. They owned a John Deere Tractor dealership in Kemp, Texas in the 1960’s. Jane earned her nursing degree in the 1970’s. She later married Kenneth Norman in 1981 in Miami, Oklahoma. Jane and Ken had an antique business in Canton after they retired.
Jane is survived by her two brothers and sister: Sammy D. Hoover Jr. and wife Peggy, Carl Joseph Hoover and wife Rosetta, Helen Kathleen Hoover Hightower; three children Jeffrey Lynn Woolverton and wife Sheila, Marvin Benford Woolverton Jr. and wife Carrie Anne, Mary Catherine Woolverton Miller and husband Philip Alan; 14 grandchildren and step-grandchildren James Ernie Woolverton, Billy Wayne Haralson, Michael Neal Schalchli and wife Angela, Teresa Renee Woolverton and husband Richard L. Mendoza, Greg Smith and wife Joanna, Veronica Taylor Smith and husband Matt Murphey, James Taylor Smith IV, Amie Benissa Woolverton and husband Gary Wayne Height, Beth Ann Woolverton and husband Christopher Glenn Hanks, Sarah Katharine Murphy and husband Clay William Funk, Chelsea Anne Murphy-Roberts, Jason Alan Miller and wife Judy, Garret Adam Miller, Logan Anson Miller and wife Dayana; 27 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive visitors at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton on Saturday, 16 September 2023 hat 2:00-3:00 p.m. Service of Remembrance will be held at Eubank on Saturday, the 16 day of September 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Haven of Memories, Canton, Texas.
