Janice went home to the Lord on December 8, 2022 in Canton, Texas. She was born on January 30, 1946 in Sedan, Kansas to Irene Erma Walworth Young and Lester Allen Young.
Janice grew up in Elgin, Kansas and graduated from Sedan High School. She later attended Independence Community College. On December 21, 1968 she married her one and only love, Kenneth Peebles, the couple had 31 beautiful years together before his passing in 2000.
Janice was Christian by faith. She had fond memories of summer days on the farm in Kansas helping her mother picking fresh items from the garden and canning for the month to come. Janice proudest moment was putting together her mother’s, 90th birthday celebration and helping with the care of her in the final years of her life. Janice enjoyed putting together photo albums and scrapbooking. She was happy sewing and creating stuffed animals, bibs, and clothing for bunnies. Janice found pleasure in life’s simple things; planting flowers, pulling weeds (that was good therapy!), walking her dogs and eating tomatoes straight off the vine. This beautiful woman loved life and her family. She will live on the memories and hearts of all that knew and loved her.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Irene Young; beloved husband, Kenneth Peebles; sister, Barbara Nolan.
She is survived by her siblings: Beverly and Dudley Pendergrass, Anita Hynds, Dorothy Ross, Charles Young, Loren and Donna Young; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you please donate to Janice’s favorite charities: ASPCA, Gideon Bibles and American Cancer Society.
Inurnment will be in Severy, Kansas, where she will be placed next to her husband at Southlawn Cemetery.
