Janice Reid

She was born on July 13, 1936, in Fairfield, Texas, to Maurice Ritter and Mattie Willard Ritter. Throughout her life, Janice was known for her steady faith, servant's heart, and quiet generosity. She had a gift for making people feel cared for through the countless everyday acts of kindness that became the hallmark of her life.

Janice met and married Don Henry Reid, and together they built a home centered on faith, family, and laughter. Their partnership extended beyond their home as they faithfully served together, teaching Sunday school for many years and investing in the lives of others through their church community.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. Whether cheering from the stands at a ballgame or celebrating life's everyday moments, Janice was a constant source of strength, encouragement, and love. Her grandchildren always knew they could count on seeing her smiling face in the crowd.

A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Canton, Janice lived out her faith through action. Friends affectionately knew her as "the taxi driver" because she was always willing to take someone to a doctor's appointment, drive them to DFW Airport, or run an errand for anyone in need. Her servant's heart also led her to volunteer as a tutor helping young students with patience, kindness, and encouragement. As one friend shared, Janice used her God-given gift to care for others in these simple but meaningful ways, always putting their needs before her own.

Janice dedicated more than 27 years to Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) as an administrative assistant, where she was respected for her reliability, warmth, and steadfast work ethic. She also treasured time spent with friends just as much as time with family. An avid bridge player, she looked forward to gathering with the ladies where cards, conversation, and laughter strengthened friendships that lasted for years.

She measured a life well lived not by recognition, but by service. Whether teaching a Sunday school class, tutoring a child, cheering from the stands, or simply driving someone where they needed to go, Janice found joy in showing up for others. Her quiet faithfulness, generous spirit, and unwavering love for others will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Mattie Ritter; her beloved husband, Don Reid; her sister, Annette Solley; and her son-in-law, Dickie Taylor.

She is survived by her children: Suzanne Taylor; Michael Martin and wife, Sherry; Maralene Martin and husband, Jerry O'Driscoll; KaSandra Goulding and husband, Harry; and David Reid and wife, Kamra. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Elena Howard (Nick), Jennifer Taylor, Joey Martin (Abby), Cheyenne Spachholz (Chris), Mitchell Goulding (Anthony), Catherine Goulding, Patrick Goulding (Dakota), Graysen Reid, Landon Reid, and Lauren Davila (Matt); seven great-grandchildren; honorary family members Cathryn and Benney McMullen, Carolyn and Craig Kelly, Charlene Reynolds along with many other beloved relatives and dear friends.

Janice will be laid to rest at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, Texas.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Eubank Funeral Home. A service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the funeral home, with Bro. Mike Roberson officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Martin, Mitchell Goulding, Patrick Goulding, Landon Reid, Nick Howard, Chris Spachholz and Matt Davila.
