Jeff passed away peacefully on May 26, 2021 in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on July 31, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to Alonzo Vance Rushing and Jo Ann Anderson Rushing. Jeff grew up in Irving, Texas where he graduated from Nimitz High School in 1972. He was active in the Nimitz marching band where he played the Baritone and made many lasting friendships. After 3 years at TCU (go Frogs!), Jeff graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1976. He welcomed children Benjamin Jeffery and Amanda Jo just a few short years later. Jeff was a Christian and loved the Lord. He was always thinking of others before himself. He could fix or build anything and was always helping out family and friends, especially if it was their Air Conditioning that needed work! After his diagnosis of Early Onset Alzheimer’s at age 57, Jeff Retired as Co-Owner and Vice President of Sales and Estimating from Venture Mechanical after 30+ years of service. In 2012, with the help of Venture Mechanical, Team “Rushing For The Cure” was established. Together we have raised over $250,000 for Alzheimer’s research through the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Jeff continued to walk every year even as his disease progressed. His family and friends will continue to walk in his honor for many years to come. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, ages 5-16, which he loved and adored.
Jeffery was a true friend to those who knew him, he leaves an empty place in the hearts of his loved ones but his memory will live on though their stories and love.
“The bond of a father’s love cannot be broken, made from pure love, it lives on in the hearts of his children, sent from earth to heaven above”
Jeffery is survived by his daughter, Amanda Cotter and husband, Sananda; son, Ben Rushing and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Nickola Giselle (16), Betty Jean (13), Hudson Vance (12), Lucy Rushing (7), Sadie Jo (12), Shelby Elizabeth (12) and Landon Jeffery (5); sisters, Kathleen Lietzke and Cindy Clark; many other nieces, nephews and dear cousins.
