Jerry grew up in Borger, TX and Terre Haute, Indiana. After serving in the US Navy during Vietnam, he moved to Canton. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the 243 Church of Christ.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Thornton; daughter and son-in-law, Mari Ann and Allan Stubbins; grandchildren: Ashton and Avery Stubbins; twin brother, Gary Don Thornton; niece, Michelle Thornton; and brother-in-law, Billy Estes Rawson, Jr.
