

Services for Johnnie Ray Harris, 62, of Canton, are scheduled for 11:30 am, Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Grace Family Church in Canton with Pastor Jonathan Ray Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Harris passed away May 11, 2016, at his home. He was born January 13, 1954 in Houston, TX to John Neal and Sarah Lee Flemons Harris.
Johnnie graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler. He then served in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper. Until his health failed he was a faithful member of the Grace Family Church where he served as the Head Usher. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he enjoyed decorating lights on wrought iron. His hobbies included gardening, yard work and playing dominoes. His nickname was “Mr. Domino.” Johnnie loved to write poems and enjoyed art and collecting die-cast cars.
Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his father, John Neal Harris; step-father, Frank Toler; grandparents: Clint and Mamie Flemons, Herman and Gracie Stevenson; brother-in-law, Edward Ross; daughter-in-law, Vickie Harris; and his father and mother-in-law: Willie and Easter Fitzgerald.
Mr. Harris is survived by high school sweetheart and wife of 35 years, Peggy Harris of Canton; son, Chris McCleveland and Sharon of Houston; son, Johnny Ray Harris, Jr. and Vickie of Canton; son, Frank of Canton; daughter, Latisha and Delvondo White of Mesquite; son, Joshua Harris of Canton; four grandchildren: Marquis Harris, Chresha McCleveland, Jizelle White, Jaydyn White; mother, Sarah Harris Toler of Tyler; four brothers: Herman Harris, Kelvin and Minnie Harris both of Tyler, Willie and Dedre Harris of Athens, and O’Neal Harris of Nacogdoches; two sisters: Wanda Faye Ross and Patrina and Gary Pinkerton, all of Tyler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Coffman, Ronnie Wilson, Delvondo White, Eric Brass, Marquise Harris and T.O. Murphry. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Prox, Jimmy White and Charles Mitchell.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
