June Barrett - Carter

June went home to the Lord on November 2, 2022 in Jefferson, Texas. She was born on June 10, 1933 in Houston, Texas to Clem Henry Strickland and Wynona West Strickland.

June was a devoted Christian who spent several years as a missionary. Two of those years, she was in Israel over seeing the Baptist Village Kitchen. She loved to tell people about the love of the Lord and introduce them to the passages from the Bible. June lived in Mesquite for many years and raised a family. After retiring to Jefferson, Texas, she was an active member of River Crossing Cowboy Church. June was blessed with two wonderful marriages, six beautiful children and later grandchildren. June enjoyed cooking and baking pies for her family and friends. She was a very talented painter and artist. June will be dearly missed, but always cherished in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Wynona Strickland; first husband, Rev. James L. Barrett; two children, Eddie Clem Barrett and Judy June Guzman; four grandchildren, James Barrett, David Barrett, Christopher Barrett and Chanda McVey.

June is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen Carter of Jefferson; children, Benny Barrett and wife, Noni of Dallas, Paul Barrett and wife, Helenice of Mabank, Barbara Strebeck and husband, Ronaldo of Mesquite, Danny Patrick Barrett and wife, Sharla of Forney; Daughter-in-law, Sandy Barrett of Mabank; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Eubank Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Barrett Cemetery in Edgewood, Texas.
