Kathie Elaine Mewbourn

Kathie Elaine Mewbourn, 82, of Martins Mill, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 30, 2025 at her home. Kathie was born in Wills Point, Texas on November 27, 1942 to H. B. Etheridge and Inez Goggans Etheridge.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, followed by A Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Canton, Texas. Bro. Mike Roberson is officiating.

Kathie grew up in the Tundra area and was a member of Tundra Baptist Church. She was saved and baptized in March of 1955. For many years she served in multiple areas of the church including her passion, the Girls Missionary Auxillary. Later on, she and Jack joined the First Baptist Church, where they are still members.

She attended Canton High School where she was big in sports, playing basketball and softball. It was in high school she met and married her blue-eyed true love, Jack Mewbourn. They built their home and resided in the Martins Mill area. The couple has had 65 plus years of a beautiful life and marriage where they enjoyed their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathie loved going to see them in their school sports and activities. She was their biggest fan. She loved the Lord and her family.

After a vacation in Colorado where the couple fell in love with the mountains; Kathie and Jack built a vacation home there; one that Kathie drafted and designed. She had a wonderful talent for drawing, painting pictures and designing beautiful homes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, H. B. and Inez Etheridge and three siblings, Shirley, Larry & Gaylon.

Kathie is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Mewbourn; children: Karen Mewbourn Norrell and husband, Kevin; Marty Mewbourn and wife, Tonya; grandchildren: Brandon Mewbourn and wife, Lorna; Arron Mewbourn and wife, Stephanie; Cody Mewbourn and wife, Brittani; Kelsey Paget and husband, Tyler; eleven great grandchildren: Gatlin, Corbin, Layeton, Emry, Witten, Kinsey, Caroline, Mason, Noah, Eliana, Preston and a host of many other family and friends.
