

Services for Larry Neil Matthews Jr., 58, of Canton will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 2:30pm at Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton with Bro. George Yarger and Max Callahan officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
Larry went home to the Lord on December 2, 2021 in Tyler, Texas with his family by his side. He was born September 21,1963 in Mesquite, Texas to Larry Matthews Sr. and wife, Virginia. He grew up in Pleasant Grove, attending and graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School. He spent much of his time at his parent's feed store in Seagoville. When he had free time he enjoyed coming to East Texas, spending time on the family land and coon hunting. On July 27, 2002 he married his true love, Angie Dickerson. The couple had 19 beautiful years together. Larry worked as a salesman, Sales Manager and later General Manager for John Crow Pontiac in Canton and Wills Point Chevrolet dealerships for 30 years until his retirement on April 1, 2021. He was a honest and dependable man to customers and co-workers. Larry was a quiet man but outgoing. He was not your typical salesman and his customers loved that about him.
Larry mentored many young men over the years through coaching basketball and baseball. He was respected and loved by the boys he coached. Larry loved listening to music, enjoyed golfing, and BBQ, always asking friends to come by hang out and enjoy some BBQ. He was a Baptist by faith and loved the Lord. Larry was a family man, devoted to his wife and kids.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Matthews; children: Jason Matthews, Ty Matthews, Ben Matthews, Rylan Matthews; stepson Chase Dickerson; mother, Virginia Matthews; sisters: Kim Baxley and husband, Tim, Renee Bryant; brother, Clayton Matthews and wife, Aimee; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of other family and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Larry Neil Matthews Sr.; his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, Texas.
