Services for Rev. Leonard Brown, 98, of Canton, will be 10 am Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Dan Tarno officiating. Interment will be in New Harmony Cemetery near Van.
Mr. Brown passed away November 28, 2020 in Tyler. He was born November 29, 1921 in Loraine, TX to Joseph David and Annie Matilda Johns Brown.
During World War II Leonard served in the Army Air Corps in Alaska. He was an airplane mechanic and worked at Tyler Pounds Field for many years. He was also a lawn mower mechanic in Canton for many years. Leonard was a minister for 56 years. For over 30 years, he was active in singing and preaching at area nursing homes. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Leonard was a poet and had many of his poems published in the Canton Herald. He enjoyed playing dominoes at the Senior Citizens Building.
Rev. Brown is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annie Brown; wives: Olla Brown and Mary Jim Brown; son, Donald Brown; grandson, Scott McClellen; four brothers and two sisters.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Margie Gaston Brown of Edgewood; daughter, Carroll McClellen of Canton; son, Robert Brown of Canton; son, Charlie and Peggy Brown of Winnsboro; 15 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends 6-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. For the safety of family and friends, masks are required and social distancing should be observed.
