A funeral service for Lonnie Mack Browning, 76, of Canton, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Church of Christ Church at 243 in Canton, Texas, Bro. Blake O’Quin officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Lonnie passed away peacefully on March 27, 2023 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on January 30, 1947 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Homer Browning and Janie Woodard Browning.
Lonnie grew up around Pickton and graduated from Pickton High School in 1965, where he was very involved in 4-H and FFA. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years before joining Church of Christ Church on 243 in 1969. On June 16, 1967 he married his true love, Elvira Petross. The couple has had 55 wonderful years. Lonnie was involved with the Texas National Guard for five years. He worked as an Assistance County Agent for two years, before opening the Circle B Western Wear Store in 1972. The store was located downtown Canton and for 42 years you could find Lonnie minding the store, helping people and shaping cowboy hats. He was very well known through his support in the local schools’ Ag programs, Youth Rodeo and 4-H clubs. Lonnie spent his time involved with the church; he served as treasurer and as an Elder, and over saw missions through the church. At home he enjoyed working in the yard taking care of his little farm of horses and cows. What brought Lonnie the most joy was time with family. He will be greatly missed but always remembered in the hearts of those that knew and loved him.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Janie Browning.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elvira Browning; children, Lisa DeLoach and husband, Tommy, Bradley Browning and wife, Mindy; grandchildren, David Stephens, Jason Stephens, Nicholas Browning, Isabel Browning, J. P. Wiggins, Todd Wiggins,Joey Wiggins, and Josh DeLoach; brother, Neuman Browning and wife, Pat.
Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas.
