Lowdean Greer, age 90 passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025. She was born on November 18, 1934, in Ferris, Texas, where she attended school and grew up surrounded by family, friends, and cousins.
Her laughter was unforgettable, a joyful sound that brought comfort and happiness to everyone around her.
A creative soul from an early age, Lowdean played drums in high school and later began working at Sears in Dallas, where she met the love of her life, Eugene “Gene” Greer. They were married on May 9, 1953, and shared 72 wonderful years together, a true example of love, faith, and devotion.
After marrying Gene, Lowdean embraced the role of a minister’s wife, a calling that allowed her to share her gift for connecting with others, especially children and teens. Known affectionately as “Aunt Yum Yum” for always carrying a bag of goodies in her purse, she brought laughter, encouragement, and kindness to everyone she served.
Lowdean’s creativity showed in everything she did. She was a talented, self-taught seamstress, artist, and card maker, and many were blessed to receive her handmade cards. She enjoyed bowling with Gene in a league in Tyler and delighted her grandchildren with her roller-skating skills, even skating backward with ease. Later, she discovered a love for jewelry-making and shared her creations at local craft shows.
While Gene’s ministry often took him abroad, Lowdean’s ministry was at home, where she lovingly supported her children in every endeavor. Whether cheering from the sidelines at games or helping with playful pranks, she was always there with love and laughter.
Lowdean was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Pearl and Pearl Childers; her sister, Marzell Warters; her brothers, Elmo Childers and R.H. Childers; and her eldest son, David Greer.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Eugene Greer; her son, Mark Greer; her daughter, Jan Weeks (Charlie); her grandchildren, Ryan Greer (Christi), Brent Greer (Mary), Jason Greer (Courtney), Katie Zarate (Antonio), Kaela Weeks, and Erin Weeks Roark (Drew); and her great-grandchildren, Preston, Madison, Maddox, and Adaline. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the PSP Foundation at www.psp.org.
Lowdean’s laughter, creativity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
