Marion Hale "Jim" Burcham Jr.

Services for Marion Hale "Jim" Burcham, Jr., 76, of Canton, are scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Canton with Rev. Jonathan Thornsbury officiating.

Jim Burcham was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on August 22, 1939, but got to Texas as soon as he could. His father's employment moved their family to Irving, TX in 1958. Jim attended SMU & UT Arlington briefly, but then went to work at Texas/Oklahoma Express. He then resumed classes at night at SMU, sat for his CPA exam, became certified, and went on to practice accounting for 40 years. In 1960 Jim married Donna Jean Moore in Cedar Hill, TX and they resided in Irving, TX where their three sons Todd Michael, Troy Allen, and Ty Andrew were born. They moved to Cedar Hill, TX in 1972 where their children finished out their High School years. In 1987 Jim and Donna purchased 40 acres in Canton, TX where they moved to and pursued their love of horses and horse racing. Jim passed away at his farm on Friday, November 6, 2015.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Marion Hale Burcham, Sr. and Vivian Elizabeth Hulsey Burcham; brother, Carl Ray Burcham; son, Todd Michael Burcham; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Essie Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Donna Burcham; his sons and their wives, Troy and Jennifer Burcham and Ty and Leslie Burcham; 5 grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Riley, Will and Hale Burcham; brother, Dennis and Alice Burcham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Sandra Husmann; and nieces and nephews: Larry, Laurie, Derek, Craig, Kelly and Brian. He will be greatly missed.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Cedar Hill Class of 1960.

Family will receive friends Monday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
