Mark passed away on May 17, 2019 in Tyler, Texas. He was born September 18, 1958 to Fermon and Orrel Reeves in Denver, CO.
Although not a native Texan, Mark grew up in Canton, Texas where he attended public schools. With an interest in piano in Junior High School, be began private lessons with Gwen Mitchell Wallace, Rose Blackwell and then, Alice Tindel, of Athens. Then, as a Piano Performance major in college, he studied with George Mueller at TJC, Stefan Bardas at NTSU (now UNT), Susan Madsen and Camille Smith at UT-Tyler. In 1982, Mark took the organist position at First United Methodist Church and began studies with Richard Herr and later, Larry Palmer at SMU. During his time in Canton, he eventually became Director of Music and Media Ministries and remained at FUMC - Canton for 32 years. He, also, received the Colleague level certification in American Guild of Organists through the Dallas Chapter. He currently served as organist at First Presbyterian Church in Longview, Texas. Mark also was the accompanist for the Kilgore College Camerata Singers; the Trinity Valley Community College Chamber Singers, Cardinal Chorale, and individual students for school recitals and programs. Most recently, Mark was organist for the presentations of Mendelssohn's ELIJAH and Rutter's "The Gift of Life" with the Longview Symphony Chorus and Orchestra.
Mark is survived by his Sister, Cherie and Bob Veach; Brothers: Frank and Linda South; Kenneth and Kim Reeves; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Fermon and Orrel Reeves; Brother, Dennis Reeves.
Inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery.
