

Mary Melinda Turner-Ross, 76, of Longview, Texas passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026. She was born into this world on December 31, 1949, in Tyler, Texas at Gafney Clinic & Hospital to Dr. John Turner Sr. and Mary Macile Turner.
Visitation will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX, on January 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Memorial Service will follow at the same venue, beginning at 11:00 am.
Melinda grew up in Canton, where she spent her early years. In 1988, she married her beloved husband, Veldon, and they shared a beautiful life together. Known for being a smart and strong-willed woman. Melinda had a wonderful sense of humor and was beautiful inside and out. To know her was to love her.
Melinda had a passion for shopping and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys play. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. John Turner Sr. and Mary Macile Turner; sister, Suzanne Turner; stepson, Sheldon Lane “Shane” Ross.
Melinda is survived by her beloved husband, Veldon Ross; stepdaughter and husband, Kelli Sleeman and Lyle Sleeman III; brother, Dr. John Turner II; nephew and niece in-law, John Turner III and Laurie Turner; grandchildren: Lyle “Ross” Sleeman IV, Logan Sleeman, Patrick Turner, Colin Turner, Henry Turner, John Turner IV; a multitude of other family and friends.
