

Services for Nolen Floyd Black, 84, of Canton, are scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Mike Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery in Martins Mill.
Nolen took his flight to heaven on Nov. 11, 2017 at Hospice Homeplace in Tyler. He was born June 12,1933 to Ruben Floyd Black & Alma Christine Lancaster in Martins Mill, Texas. Nolen attended Martins Mill High School and played on the basketball team that won the State championship in 1949. He married his childhood sweetheart, Nelta Jean West (Nell), on Nov. 10, 1951. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary Nov. 10th, 2017. Nolen and Nell started their wonderful life together in Dallas. In 1984 they started their own business which still carries on today as North Star in Canton, TX. Nolen was a family man and loved his family. He was a people person, who loved his friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Nolen is survived by his wife, Nell; son, Mike and Susan Black; daughter, Beckey and Terry Grapevine; daughter, Julie and Terry Farley; five grandchildren: Regenia Plant, Jacob Grapevine, Sarah Shinn, Courtney Farley and Cami Farley; five great-grandchildren: Jonathan Plant, Carson Plant, Julianna Grapevine, Alexandra Shinn and Joshua Grapevine -3 & ½ weeks old; and brother, James Lewis Black.
Pallbearers are Frank Hutchison, Ed Jameson, Bob Bogle, Harold Jacobs, Jim Perkins, Mal Fowler, Bennie Williams, Marvin Edwards, Bob Brockman, Bobby Chaney and Justin Bunting.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. If desired, memorials may be given to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, TX 75701.
