Mrs. Wilson passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born on January 27, 1941 in Athens, TX to the late Jesse Lee and Clara Leola Ratcliff Kennedy.
Norma was raised in Murchison, TX along with her seven brothers and sisters in whom she took great pride. She enjoyed helping with their care and being a second mother to them. She was an amazing big sister to them all. She graduated from Brownsboro High School in 1959 and quickly moved to the Dallas area to start her career. In doing so, she had a tremendous career with Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company for over 35 years. During that time, at the age of 27, she met and married her husband, Ross, to whom she was married for 50 years as of May 10, 2018. After retirement, she and Ross moved to Wills Point to enjoy the country. Norma attended Barn Fellowship in Grand Saline.
Norma loved to cook and loved eating her cooking even more. She was not only a career woman, but an amazing wife and friend. She loved to hunt, work cattle, dance, and even ride a horse on occasion. We will all miss her spunkiness, but most of all her pecan pies and freshly baked cookies.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Don Kennedy and Billy Kennedy; and one sister, Bobbie Jean Jones.
Norma is survived by her husband, Ross Wilson of Wills Point; brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Lurene Kennedy of Murchison, three sisters: Diane Wilkins of Murchison, sister and brother-in-law, Sue and William Calvert of Murchison, and Joyce Estridge of Murchison; three step-sons: Randy Wilson of Garland, Ricky Wilson of Dallas, and Eric Wilson of Jefferson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and treated as her own. She will be truly missed by everyone she knew and loved.
Pallbearers are Chester Kennedy, William Calvert, Mike Wilson, Ricky Wilson, Corey Kimbrough, James Ray Wilson and Wade Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Gale Kimbrough, James Furr, Martin Malone and Lance Holiman.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX. If desired, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. We would like to say a special thank-you to Dona Elder and her co-workers at American Home Hospice in Terrell for the care they provided Norma during her time of illness.
