Ray passed away peacefully on November 24, 2020 in Canton, Texas. He was born March 3, 1931 in McKinney, Texas to Lester, and Mary Loveday. On June 20, 1953, Ray married the love of his life, Dorthy Borchardt. They spent 64 years together.
He raised his family in Lewisville, Texas, then later retired and moved to Grand Saline, where he and his wife Dorthy lived for close to 30 years.
Ray loved spending time with his family, traveling the back roads of Texas, gardening and growing vegetables for his family, and taking care of his land. He had a love for camping, especially at Tyler State Park, where he always made everyone their own walking sticks! He also proudly served for his country in the U.S. Army.
Ray was loved by all that met him and will be truly missed by many, but especially by his dog Lucy, who was his best friend for the last few years.
Ray was proceeded in death by his wife, Dorthy; daughter, Vienna Loveday; son in law, John Lindberg, parents, Lester and Mary Loveday; as well as his six brothers: Dudley, Roy, Glen, Landon, Jack and Don, and three sisters: Maggie, Frankie and Marie.
He is survived by: His children, Donna Graham, along with Richard Graham of Grand Saline; Michael Loveday, and wife Jackie of Lewisville; Kimberly Lindberg of Grand Saline; Nila Grimes, and husband Tim of Lewisville; His six granddaughters, Jessica Warren, with husband Joseph; Lauren Cheslik, with husband Daniel; Katie Loveday; Samantha Lindberg; Courtney Lindberg; and Madison Johnson, with Husband Mitch. Also survived by his nine great grandchildren; his sister, Peggy Duvall; many nieces and nephews; as well as friends who were like family, all that knew him as “Papaw Ray”.
