Phillip R. Smith, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at the age of 77. He was born on Oct. 2, 1937 to Allie and Norma Watts Smith in Huntington, WV. He attended Vinson High School in Huntington. He was married on Sept. 27, 1958 to Constance E. Perkowski Smith from Riverhead, NY. When he retired from the Air Force he went to work for Continental Telephone Co. and then Verizon from which he also retired. In his spare time he loved to travel in his R.V.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Phillip R. Smith, III, who died at the age of six after a long illness, his brother Ellis of Huntington, WV and a sister Virginia Smith Kubat of Middletown, Conn.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 55 wonderful years, Constance, of Lancaster; son, Phillip R. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Canton; daughter, Diane E. Smith of Lancaster; Granddaughter, Janis Wilbert of Dallas; two great granddaughters, Allison and Emma Wilbert and two brothers: Bob Smith of San Antonio and Charles Smith of Florida.
A graveside service will be held 2 pm Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton. Family will receive friends at 1 pm Sunday at Eubank Funeral Home.
